Washington's Birthday Bonanza Toyota Tacoma
Are you looking for a pickup truck that has slain its competition, picking up recognition as one of the best compact trucks on the market for 2013? The Toyota Tacoma answers your call!

The Toyota Tacoma and its rugged brother, the Toyota Tundra, were recently recognized as top contenders in U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Car for the Money” awards. Westboro Toyota isn’t surprised, those awards are designed to zero in on vehicles that offer “outstanding value.”

As though that wasn’t enough, here are four more reasons to buy a new Toyota Tacoma during Washington’s Birthday Bonanza—but hurry, Westboro Toyota’s good ’ol George Washington’s b-day sale ends tomorrow, Feb. 28, 2013:

Fuel-efficient, powerful engine—The Toyota Tacoma comes standard with a 2.7L 4-cyl. engine that’s got good acceleration power, or a 4.0L V-6 engine, depending on the model you select. And, for fuel economy, you’re looking at up to about 25 mpg highway, again depending on the engine. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the Toyota Tacoma’s performance in the mpg department is quite good for its class—not surprised!

Excellent cab options—The Toyota Tacoma is a reasonably priced pickup truck that comes in three cab options: regular cab, access cab and double cab. Oh—and when talking about the passenger compartment, opt for the Toyota Tacoma double-cab model and you’ll discover mad space in the back seat!

Off-road performance—The Toyota Tacoma performs well both on and off the road. According to Edmunds.com, the “Ask the Car People,” and we’re quoting here: “Off-road, the four-wheel-drive Tacoma is an exceptional performer”— ’nuf said!

Reasonably priced—How does around $17,000 and some change sound for a brand-new Toyota Tacoma? That’s right! The Toyota Tacoma is reasonably priced starting well under $20,000. Visit Westboro Toyota for up-to-the-minute live pricing on a brand-new Toyota Tacoma! Again, the Washington’s Birthday Bonanza ends tomorrow, so hurry in.

Toyota Tundra & Tacoma Take Top Spots in 2013 Best Cars for the Money Awards!

Toyota Tundra Toyota Tacoma Westboro Toyota

The Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Tacoma are highly reliable, rugged, high-performance trucks. Westboro Toyota isn’t telling you anything you didn’t already know!

But, we are really proud to announce that the Toyota Tundra and Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks have received top honors for the 2013 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Car for the Money” awards, which recognize the top vehicles in their respective segments for their “outstanding value and critical acclaim,” Toyota explains.

This is the second time the Toyota Tacoma has taken first place, and this year, the Toyota Tundra was recognized as the best full size truck for the money! Heck, the Toyota Tundra even towed the Space Shuttle—talk about a half-ton beast.

Get a load of just how awesome the Tundra’s engine really is: Its V6 (4.0L), or  V8 (4.6L or 5.7L) engine comes packed with double overhead cams and dual variable valve timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and an Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) to maximize torque, and tubular exhaust headers to minimize back pressure, which means you're getting 381 hp and 401 lb.-ft. of torque!

As for the Tacoma, it truly is built for action! Its 4.0L V6 engine gets the job done, whether you need it for hauling or towing. With 236 hp, plus a full 266 lb.-ft. of torque at 4000 rpm, the Toyota Tacoma, which comes in regular, double and access cab models, is built to last.

Stop by Westboro Toyota to test drive a brand-new Toyota Tundra, which comes in regular, double and crew max cab models, and a Toyota Tacoma so you can learn first hand why these powerhouse vehicles have been recognized time and time again for their quality, value, safety and reliability—all criteria that go into selecting the winners of the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Cars for the Money” awards!

6 Tips for Weathering Extreme Winter Weather Events While Driving & Idling

Winter Driving
Well, we sure did get socked with a big one last week, didn’t we! Hopefully, you and your family were safe during the Blizzard of 2013. All 27-plus inches of drifting snow got us thinking here at Westboro Toyota about the importance of ensuring safety when driving or idling during an extreme winter weather event.

Here are some tips for staying safe during a blizzard or other extreme winter weather event:

1)    This one should go without saying, but if you don’t have to drive during a winter weather event, don’t! Give the plows time to get a jump on salting and sanding the roadways so they’re passable once the storm winds down.

2)    If you must drive, be sure to obey the speed limit and always reduce your speeds significantly when hazardous road conditions are present. Allow several car lengths between you and the vehicle in front of you so you have ample time to slow down without slamming on the brakes—which is likely to cause skidding—as necessary. Also, while it may seem counterintuitive, turning into the skid may actually help prevent your vehicle from spinning out of control.

3)    Get your brakes and tire tread/pressure checked. Brakes and tires play a major role in your ability to safely control your vehicle when the roadways are slick. Contact Westboro Toyota today to schedule your Express Maintenance appointment. Our multi-point inspection includes tire rotation and brake check. And, when it’s time for new tires, be sure to visit Westboro Toyota’s Tire Center. Also, be sure to read up on why checking tire pressure is so important during cold winter months and how to tell when it's time for new tires

4)    Keep a vehicle survival and safety kit in your vehicle. Include blankets or sleeping bags, gloves, flashlights with batteries, jumper cables, non-perishable food items, such as granola bars, a reserve of prescription medication, if applicable, a basic toolkit—think knife, screwdriver, rope, etc.—a small shovel, flares, and an ice scraper.

5)    Don’t drive close to snow banks, as you could wind up driving into one if you hit a patch of ice or catch a heavy wind gust. Also, be extremely cautious when pulling out from behind a snow bank, as you may not see oncoming traffic or pedestrians immediately due to the snow-cover pile up.

6)   Always dig out your exhaust pipe before starting your vehicle—it’s a good idea, too, to put the windows down, too, while warming up the vehicle to ensure that no dangerous carbon monoxide enters the passenger compartment.
