When Cold Weather Strikes—Check Tire Pressure for Maximum Performance

Check Tire Pressure
What’s your tire pressure these days? If you don’t know, it’s a good idea to check! For instance, a PSI—pounds per square inch—of around 30 is what most automakers recommend. Defer to your vehicle manual or check inside of your vehicle’s door jam to see if there’s a PSI sticker. Also, look at your tire’s sidewall—there, you should find the maximum PSI permitted for that style of tire. As a general rule of thumb, tires should be inflated to 10 percent less than the specified maximum PSI.

When cold weather strikes, it’s especially important to be vigilant about checking the tire pressure on your vehicle. Why? Because cold air means lower pressure, generally, and having under-inflated tires is serious business.

Tires can generally lose about 1 PSI of air pressure every month, according to Motor Trend. Couple that with the fact that they may lose another 1 PSI for every 10 degrees in temperature drop. Around the holidays is the perfect time to take a few minutes out of your busy day to have your tire pressure checked.

Gradual changes in tire pressure may not seem readily evident. But, under-inflated tires do not handle as well as ones that are at the desired amount of air in them. This leads to a safety issue because vehicles don’t corner as well and they don’t have as much traction, either—something that is so important when New England’s winter road conditions are present. Plus, under-inflated tires can compromise fuel economy—Bah Humbug!

If you’re in need of new tires, visit Westboro Toyota’s Tire Center where you’ll get details on a wide selection of tires that are right for your vehicle, including the size, type (e.g., all season), performance rating and the maximum speed for which the tires are rated. To show you how easy it is to use, we plugged in a year, Toyota make and a model and presto: Westboro Toyota’s Tire Center churned out a personalized list of many different tire brands and models to fit the vehicle.

Review your options, and then just select the number of tires you want and click “Select.” We even let you know up front how much it costs to just buy the tires or have them installed, too. Then, you’ll get an itemized price for your tire purchase, including the costs for wheel weight/valve stems and mount and balance less the taxes.  You’ll get a great sense of the tires you’re purchasing at a truly competitive price—tires that are competitively prices are selected for their ability to provide an exceptional driving experience with characteristics including superior handling for wet or dry traction, stability, tread life, acoustics, comfort and rolling resistance, which impacts fuel economy!

The next part is all up to you—just let us know a convenient day and time range you’d like to come in to have your new tires mounted and balanced and we’ll instantaneously receive your request for an appointment—it’s that simple to get new tires for your vehicle!

And, with all of the major tire brands in stock—Goodyear, Michelin, BF Goodrich, Yokohama, Bridgestone and Dunlop—Westboro Toyota’s customers have the peace of mind in knowing that they’re riding on some of the best tires the market has to offer!

Visit Westboro Toyota’s Tire Center, and get rolling on educating yourself on the tires that are right for your vehicle! Be sure to give us a call, too, if you have questions that our Toyota Trained and Certified Technicians will be happy to answer. With Westboro Toyota's Tire Center by your side, purchasing new tires has never been easier!

Promoting Head Safety on the Roads and on the Football Field Is Paramount!

Go Pats—that win last night against the Houston Texans sure was sweet! What’s even sweeter for Westboro Toyota is knowing that a donation we made earlier this year to the Northboro Southboro Youth Football and Cheer Association (NSYFCA) has gone toward equipping the league’s players, who range in age from 5 to 15, with new Schutt DNA Pro+ helmets.

Our thanks to Ray DeSabato, vice president and fundraising co-chairman of the NSTFCA, for inviting
Westboro Toyota to attend the league’s annual banquet on Dec. 9 to accept a plaque in honor of our donation—We were honored by your generosity, and we’re so grateful we were able to help out, Ray!  Thanks to the NSYFCA for putting on such a nice event.  Having former Patriot Max Lane deliver the keynote address sure was a nice touch!

Westboro Toyota would like to stress that protecting your head on the football field is just as important as protecting your head on the roadways. It’s important when you’re shopping for a new vehicle or that you determine whether the car, truck or SUV you’re considering is equipped with key safety features that could potentially save the lives of you and your family.

Toyota is the first manufacturer to make the features of its Star Safety System™ standard on all its new vehicles, which include vehicle stability control, traction control, an anti-lock brake system, brake assist and Smart Stop technology. Now, let’s move on to another important safety feature: airbags.

Take the all-new 2013
Rav4, which comes standard with eight class-leading airbags—including front side and front head airbags—which, like a football helmet, may significantly reduce the likelihood of serious injuries or fatalities in a crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), more than 28,000 lives were saved due to frontal airbags as of 2009. In addition, side airbags with head protection reduce a driver’s risk of death in driver-side crashes by nearly 40 percent, the NHTSA reports. In an SUV, the risk is reduced by 52 percent, according to analysis the NHTSA cites. Research shows that head-protecting airbags may also be linked to how well vehicle occupants fare in a side-impact crash, the NHTSA adds.

When thinking about airbags, it’s important also to sit an appropriate distance back—the NHTSA recommends making sure the driver’s chest is at least 10 inches away from the center of the steering wheel.

Do you have questions about the leading types of safety features Toyotas offer? Please feel free to
stop by Westboro Toyota's showroom so one of our knowledgeable team members can educate you no Toyota safety. Also, don't forget that now through Jan. 7, 2013 Toyotathon is on!

Why Regular Replacement of Your Cabin Air Filter Is a Must

cabin filter
It's cold outside! And, that means no more rolling the windows down to get fresh air in your vehicle.

With winter just a few weeks away, now is a good time to replace the cabin air filter in your vehicle. The cabin air filter is a mechanism that helps prevent stale air from becoming trapped in the passenger compartment, which can become unhealthy. Plus, if you drive in dusty environments, such as on dirt roads or at construction sites, your cabin air filter could be working overtime.

It’s usually best to replace your vehicle’s cabin air filter at least once every 30,000 miles or so to ensure that it’s effectively trapping air particles that you don’t want to compromise your driving environment—such as dust, pollen, mold spores and other potentially harmful and irritating agents, which can be circulated through the heating, air conditioning and ventilation functions.

A quick change of the cabin air filter sure does reap a good result for a low cost.
Westboro Toyota dares you to compare on the cost to replace the cabin air filter in your vehicle because we'll meet or beat any local competitor’s coupon, now through Dec. 31, 2012. Plus, we’re offering a great deal right now on a cabin air filter replacement on Toyota models for just $59.95, also through Dec. 31, 2012.

Westboro Toyota wants you to dare to compare! Not only do we offer highly competitive, live pricing on our new Toyotas and pre-owned Toyotas, as well as $0 down leases on all your favorite Toyota models—we also offer competitive service deals.

Let’s take an oil change, for example.

The average price at Jiffy Lube for a 4-cylinder 2002 Camry to change the oil and filter, check tire pressure, add windshield-washer fluid, check the brake-fluid level, vacuum the floors, and wash the exterior windows is a whopping $41.99.

Valvoline isn’t much better, coming in at $39.87 for the same make and model just to change the oil and filter, check the tire pressure, add windshield-washer fluid and check the brake-fluid level.

Then, there’s Westboro Toyota. For just $35.34 on this make and model (including parts, labor, taxes and fees), we’ll change the oil and filter, check the tire pressure, add windshield-washer fluid and check the brake fluid level, plus we go a step further for our customers—performing a multi-point inspection and replacing the drain plug gasket, which serves the all-important purpose of sealing the drain plug against the oil pan, which helps prevents oil leaks that can cause engine damage.

And, with online scheduling, you can book your next appointment 24/7. Or, call our experienced service team at 888.336.4745 to book your next oil change or other service.

Dare to compare, folks! Check out Westboro Toyota's oil change and other service specials for yourself. And, don't forget to download coupons that can save you even more, now through Dec. 31. 2012. We'll meet or beat any local Toyota dealer's coupons!

Toyota Tundra Poised to Enter the ‘Haul’ of Fame!

Can the Toyota Tundra pull a giant space vehicle? Sure can!

The half-ton Toyota Tundra is slated to make history today as it tows what truly is some out-of-this-world cargo!

The Toyota Tundra will be towing the Space Shuttle Endeavor across the finish line to its new home at the California Science Center. To make sure the Tundra was up to the challenge—which Westboro Toyota never doubted for a second—Toyota engineers performed extensive tests to make sure it had the towing capacity for NASA’s iconic monstrosity.

Westboro Toyota wants everyone to know that the Toyota Tundra that’s making the historic haul of the 128-foot long, 78-feet wide orbital, doesn’t have any special gears or transmission—this is the same type of Toyota Tundra truck you can buy off Westboro Toyota’s lot!

Right now, Westboro Toyota has an out-of-this-world deal on a brand-new 2012 double cab 4x4 Toyota Tundra at just $27,420 (MSRP $33,750, 4.6 L V8 6-spd automatic, model # 8339, stk # 36038), with $0 down and $0 financing for qualified buyers, plus two years of complimentary maintenance.

Westboro Toyota urges you to tweet about this history-making event at #TundraEndeavor because according to Toyota, it will donate $50 to the California Science Center when you do!

Do you own a Toyota Tundra? Share with us on Facebook the amazing hauls your Tundra’s made!

Get Relief from Pain at the Pump with Toyota Prius Plug-in Incentives!

$3.93. That’s the average price for regular, unleaded gasoline here in Massachusetts today, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Fortunately, Westboro Toyota's got some much-needed relief from the pain at the pump in store for you thanks to the Prius Plug-in.

The Toyota Prius Plug-in is one of the most technologically advanced vehicles in the automotive industry, combining the Prius’ proven technology with an added boost thanks to its 4.4 kWh Lithium-ion battery. That means you can generally go the first 11 miles without burning any gasoline!

Once the 11-mile electric-only range is up, Toyota estimates that 1) you'll get around 50 mpg--of course this depends on your driving habits--and 2) you can save about $7,600 in gasoline costs over a five-year period versus the average vehicle. Now that certainly isn't chump change!

Why You Should Consider Buying a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle

Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Logo
Certified pre-owned vehicles, like the pristine fleet of Toyotas available on Westboro Toyota’s lot on Route 9 West, can deliver you a lot of bang for less bucks.

When you buy a new vehicle, it comes with a manufacturer’s warranty up to a specified number of miles or years, usually whichever comes first. With a certified pre-owned Toyota, you’re also getting a great warranty, but the sale price on the vehicle is generally substantially less than it would have been if you had bought the car, truck or SUV brand-new, which could result in big savings for you!

Toyota’s certified used vehicle advantage features a 3-month/3,000-mile comprehensive warranty from the date of your certified purchase, covering any repair or replacement of components which fail under normal use due to a defect in materials or workmanship.

In addition, a certified pre-owned Toyota purchase is backed by a 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty (from the original date of first use when purchased as new).

Westboro Toyota also includes a 7-year/100,000 mile limited powertrain warranty and 1-year of 24-hour roadside assistance (from original date of first use when purchased as new), plus a 160-point inspection to ensure that only the best Toyota used vehicles are chosen as our Toyota-certified pre-owned vehicles. We also run a CarFax® Vehicle History Report to ensure that the vehicle is worthy of being called a certified pre-owned.

If you're in the market to buy a used car, Westboro Toyota highly recommends that you consider a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle.

Is there a particular certified pre-owned Toyota you’re looking for?  Stop by Westboro Toyota’s showroom today or call to speak with one of our knowledgeable sales team members who can find you a vehicle that’s right for your family and right for your budget.

Lighter 2013 Toyota Avalon to Quench Your Thirst for Saving At the Pump

Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology has helped enhance the fuel economy in many vehicles across the fleet of products. Why? Well, there are several reasons, but one of primary note rests with the fact that Toyota’s engineers have been working tirelessly to reduce the weight of its vehicles.

Take the 2013 Toyota Avalon, for example. The Toyota Technical Center’s (TTC) development team has made the upcoming year’s model lighter, but more rigid, to improve drive performance.

The result of the TTC’s efforts: The 2013 Toyota Avalon is 110 pounds lighter than the 2012 model, making it the lightest vehicle in the premium mid-size segment, Westboro Toyota has learned.

“Our target was to dramatically improve all aspects of dynamic performance, [e]specially in the areas of fuel efficiency, handling and performance,” TTC’s chief Avalon engineer Randy Stephens explained.

Less mass means the 2013 Toyota Avalon will be more responsive and engaged near handling limits, explained the manager in charge of ride and handling in a recent Toyota press release.

Westboro Toyota is pleased to tell you the Avalon isn’t the only Toyota to go “on a diet.” The midsize 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid is more than 200 pounds lighter than the 2011 model!

The lighter the vehicle the more likely you are to get better gas mileage. For instance, the 2013 Toyota Avalon offers a combined 40 mpg EPA-rating. Westboro Toyota sure is glad Toyota’s engineers focused on engineering weight reduction into the structure of the new vehicle. Have you seen gas prices lately? They’re creeping back to the $4 per gallon mark!

We can’t wait for the 2013 Toyota Avalon to arrive at Westboro Toyota’s showroom. We’ll keep you posted on its—lighter—arrival.

Don’t wait to wait for the 2013 Toyota Avalon? No problem! Westboro Toyota has got great deals going on right now on brand-new 2012 Avalons. How does just $33,910 sound for a 3.5 liter engine, V-6, six-speed automatic 2012 Avalon Limited (model#3554, stk #36246)?

Don’t forget, too, that the Last Chance Clearance event is going on right now, too!

Stop by Westboro Toyota to test drive a brand-new 2012 Avalon today, and be sure to check out our live pricing online!

How to Tell If It’s Time for New Tires—Westboro Toyota's Tire Days Are Here!

How can I tell if it’s time for new tires? This is a question Westboro Toyota’s experienced service technicians are happy to answer for our valued customers.

Believe it or not, Abe Lincoln’s got something to do with it! Yup, take a penny to help gauge tire tread depth. Turn that penny upside down—and if you can see the top of President Lincoln’s head—the tread may not be safe. Better yet, and nothing against good ’ol Honest Abe, but we recommend booking an appointment with Westboro Toyota so we can check your tire tread and depth.

Next up, it’s time to look at the tread grooves. Each groove’s got several spots higher than the rest of the groove. It’s a slight difference in depth—about 2/23 of an inch, but what you’re looking for is where there’s a gap between those spots and the rest of the tire’s groove.

Watch out for a tire’s cup that’s runneth over! Cupping occurs when the tire wears faster than normal. Perhaps one section of the tire is more worn than others. Watch for bulges, which can be a sign that there’s internal trouble with the tire structure. Also, if you see threads or wire mesh, come in today. This could be a serious, dangerous situation that requires immediate attention.

Fortunately, Westboro Toyota’s experienced service team is here to address all of your tire-related questions and concerns. And, best of all, right now it's Tire Days here at Westboro Toyota. We're running a phenomenal deal—buy 3 tires and get one free! We sell all of the major brands—from Michelin, Good Year and Dunlop to Yokohama, Goodrich and Uniroyal and even more in between. Some restrictions apply; contact our service department for more details.

Take advantage of this deal and schedule your appointment online today with Westboro Toyota today! And, become our Facebook fan and follow us on Twitter where we're pretty sure you'll never grow "tired" of hearing about our service deals, live pricing on brand-new Toyotas, and more!

NSYFCA Kicks Off Football Season in Westboro Toyota-Donated Helmets

The Northboro Southboro Youth Football and Cheer Association (NSYFCA) played their first games of the season this past weekend outfitted in new Schutt DNA Pro+ helmets that Westboro Toyota donated to the league.

“While there is no concussion proof helmet made, there are better ones than others and being able to have these for our program gives us the comfort of knowing our players have the best protection available,” say Ray DeSabato, vice president and fundraising co-chairman of the NSTFCA.

Westboro Toyota understands the importance of outfitting players in helmets equipped with the latest technologies, and it welcomed the opportunity to support the T-Hawks in replacing their aging, decade-old helmets. “This could not of happened without the generous donation from Westboro Toyota,” DeSabato says, noting that outfitted in their new helmets the T-Hawks took up some exciting competition against the Shrewsbury Patriots in the season opener.

Westboro Toyota reminds parents and children that helmets are like seatbelts: Secure, well-constructed and properly fitting helmets are there to protect them against potential injuries and should be used whenever kids are playing football and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities, including hockey, skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding and bike riding.

We want to take this opportunity, too, to wish NSYFCA players, parents, and league volunteers all the best for this season. Have fun and be safe everyone!

Celebrate the Meaning of Labor Day

It’s a federal holiday. It signifies the end of summer and the ushering in of all-American autumn pastimes like football. It’s when school—from kindergarten to middle and high school all the way through college—is back in session.

Yes, Westboro Toyota is talking about Labor Day, which will be here before you know it. Observed on the first Monday of September, this year, the unofficial end of summer comes on Sept. 3. And with Labor Day in less than a week, Westboro Toyota can’t help but ponder: What is the real meaning behind this American holiday?

To celebrate the social and economic contributions of workers across our great land—that’s one succinct definition of Labor Day. In the early days, Labor Day supporters envisioned a holiday filled with street parades, speeches by prominent individuals and reflection about the educational facets of the labor movement. Nowadays, we often think of end-of-summer cookouts and harvest fairs to bid adieu to summer and say hello to the crisp days of fall.

Toyota’s is on board with visions. It has made its commitment to the U.S. labor force a priority, and recently there it celebrated the 40th anniversary of Toyota Auto Body California (TABC), the company’s first manufacturing investment in the United States, which now employees close to 500 hard-working Americans who are responsible for making the stamped and welded parts on your Toyota, as well as the steering columns and catalytic converters for a number of Toyota’s vehicle assembly plants across North America. Here is where tests, inspections and repackaging of end-of-life hybrid vehicle batteries take place, too. It’s clear that TABC, and other Toyota manufacturing facilities across the United States are a labor force to be reckoned with—after all, Toyota makes some of the most beloved vehicles that Americans drive—from the Camry to the Rav 4 and the Prius!

Whatever you do on Labor Day, Westboro Toyota hopes you’ll embrace the holiday. Here are some ideas to get your engine revving for this upcoming weekend:

Take a scenic drive
using Toyota and the Aududon Society’s  “Exit the Highway” as a roadmap for your travels.

Get involved in your local community. For instance, Westboro Toyota is a proud sponsor of the Northboro/Southboro Youth Football and Cheer Association. We recently purchased new helmets for the league and can’t tell you how rewarding it feels to give back to so many well-deserving kids (more on how their season is going to come soon!). Westboro Toyota encourages everyone to take advantage of the nice weather—why not sign up for a charity roadrace or walk this Labor Day weekend to benefit a well-deserving cause focused on helping those in need across Metrowest, Massachusetts and the world?

Finally, stop by Westboro Toyota’s showroom to get in on the Toyota’s nationwide clearance event before it, like Labor Day 2013, is history.

What are your plans for this Labor Day? Share them on Westboro Toyota's Facebook page, and have a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend everyone!

Westboro Toyota Reminds U.S. Service Members about Toyota’s Rebate Program

Recently, Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. partnered with Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s National Chamber Foundation as part of an ongoing initiative to support returning troops and veterans who are transitioning from the military back to civilian jobs.

Sgt. Meyer will make appearances at several Hiring Our Heroes job fairs around the country to help veterans understand the value of personal branding and how to translate their military skills to prospective employers. The hope is that the initiative can help returning veterans land good jobs despite the high unemployment rate. Today, The Boston Globe reported that Massachusetts’ unemployment rate is on the rise as the economy is slowing.

Westboro Toyota realizes that U.S. service members and their families are very likely feeling the crunch as a result of the current state of the economy. We want everyone to know that we offer great rebates on brand-new Toyotas for active duty military personnel, who may be eligible for a $500 rebate when financing the purchase through Toyota Financial Services.

If you are on current active duty with the Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy, National Guard or Coast Guard you may be eligible for the rebate pending credit approval and verifiable proof of military status or active service at the time of purchase, i.e., leave and earning statement and military identification card.

Visit our Route 9 showroom to discuss the possibilities with Westboro Toyota’s experienced finance team. Also, browse our live pricing specials on a wide array of brand-new Toyotas. And, thank you to all of the brave U.S. service men and women and your families for all you do!

Defensive Driving Tips for 2012-13 School Year

OK, it’s only Aug. 13 but Westboro Toyota knows many teachers and school administrators around the Metrowest/Central Massachusetts area who are abuzz about going back to work. And, that means that the school busses will soon be out in full force transporting students to and from area elementary, middle and high schools.

Westboro Toyota reminds everyone to practice defensive driving at all times—this means not just obeying the rules of the road but anticipating potentially dangerous situations or others’ mishaps.

When school is back in session pay extra close attention to those flashing school bus lights and posted school zone speed limits. According to one state government’s traffic website, for every 10 miles per hour over 50 miles per hour you are traveling, you are doubling the risk of death in a traffic crash.

Even when no bus is around, kids could dart out into traffic, so be at the ready to apply those brakes as needed. If your brakes are squealing or squeaking get them checked. Also, if you feel a pulsating sensation when you apply them that could be a sign that the rotors need attention. And, if you need to push your foot very close to the floor to get your vehicle to slow down, don’t ignore that symptom, which is a very serious sign that your brakes are in need of repair.

Also, stay behind pedestrians and cyclists until you have enough room to safely pass, and remember to slow down when you see school bus put on its flashing yellow lights—don't wait for the “stop” sign to come out to take action.

In addition, if the bus driver removes the “stop” sign, always look both ways for children before proceeding on your way.

Three Signs It's Time to Trade-In Your Old Vehicle for a New Toyota

Westboro Toyota wants to tell you about Black Book®, an independent service that we use every day to price your trades. Using Westboro Toyota’s Black Book online tool, you can find out how much your trade-in is worth by entering information including the make, model, options and condition of your vehicle to get an estimated value online.

Here are some signs that it may be time to trade in your old vehicle for a new Toyota or cerrtified pre-owned Toyota:

The repairs are adding up in a big way! It’s expected that older vehicles may require a little more TLC. Some common repair issues include batteries with drained juice, bald tires, misaligned wheels, etc. While important repairs, these won’t necessarily break the bank. Collectively, the cost of repairs like these may be less than a new monthly car payment, so it may make sense for you to hold on to your vehicle a little while longer, but if the repair estimate is gigantic it’s probably time to consider a new vehicle.

Westboro Toyota makes financing a new or certified pre-owned vehicle super easy. Our experienced finance department can run a quick credit check to determine the rate for which you qualify. Also, now through Sept. 4, 2012, Westboro Toyota’s clearance event is going on, which means you could drive away in a new leased Toyota for $0 down and payments as low as $129 per month. Also, 0% financing is available for qualified borrowers on new the 2012 Avalon, Prius Plug In, Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, Tundra and Venza.

You want a safer vehicle. While cost of repair v. cost of buying/leasing a new vehicle is a consideration, Westboro Toyota knows one of the most important considerations should be safety. If you aren’t satisfied with the number or position of your vehicle’s air bags, for example, stop by Westboro Toyota so our professional sales staff can educate you on the latest safety features in our complete line of Toyotas.

Your vehicle doesn’t fit in with your lifestyle anymore. Sure, buying a compact car was great when you were single, but now you’ve got kids, a dog and a slew of extracurricular activities to tend to and now your family’s lifestyle demands a larger vehicle chock full of the latest and greatest in technological features. This is just one example. Whether you need a new pick-up truck, a compact or full-size SUV or hybrid vehicle, Westboro Toyota has plenty of inventory options from which you can choose!

Be sure to check out our Black Book feature to get your free vehicle trade-in appraisal, and stop by our showroom soon to discuss your trade-in!

Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good Cause Could Benefit Nonprofits in Central Mass.

Toyota is in the thick of its 100 Cars for Good campaign, a national philanthropic program focused on donating 100 cars to 100 nonprofit organizations across the country over the course of a consecutive 100 days. Westboro Toyota wants you to know this could be tremendous opportunity for local Westboro and other Central Massachusetts-area nonprofits!
How 100 Cars for Good Works

Every day five nonprofits are profiled on the 100 Cars for Good’s Facebook page. Registered Facebook users can vote once daily for the nonprofit they believe can do the most good with a new set of Toyota wheels. The organization with the most votes at the end of the day wins a brand-new Toyota, and four runners-up receive a $1,000 cash grant—not to shabby!
“Toyota created the 100 Cars for Good program as a way to give to a variety of organizations across the country and to do so with the help and support of the American public. It’s the public vote that decides which organizations will receive a new Toyota vehicle and we are thrilled to see the outpouring of support for the program with thousands of votes,” said Jim Lentz, president and chief executive officer of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.

Right now, 100 Cars for Good is about 75-percent complete, so there’s still time for nonprofits in Central Massachusetts and Metrowest to get in on the generous action. Westboro Toyota encourages all local nonprofits that could benefit from a new Toyota to check out the campaign and launch a social-media campaign to get their Facebook friends and fans voting for them. The pay off could be huge—and at the very least—urging your supporters to vote for your nonprofit directs positive attention to your important cause.

Recent winners operate a number of nonprofits across a wide variety of sectors, such as animal welfare, education, health & safety, and human services to children, adults and the disabled. So far, Carlisle, Massachusetts’ nonprofit All Hands Volunteer has reaped the reward of Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good campaign, being named one of 25 winners during phase-two of the program, which wrapped up in early July.
Come on Westboro nonprofits! Westboro Toyota wants to see you enjoy the benefit of a brand-new Toyota to help you accomplish the important and rewarding work you do for our community. Get going on garnering votes for your organization today at 100 Cars for Good. Follow the campaign on Facebook and look for #100cars on Twitter.

Public voting goes until Aug. 21, 2012, so there’s still time to get in the running on a new Camry Hybrid, Highlander SUV, Prius v Hybrid, Sienna minivan, Sienna Mobility or Tundra full-sized pickup. A six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty also will be provided for each vehicle, compliments of Toyota Financial Services.

Want to see the vehicles you could win? Stop by Westboro Toyota’s showroom. We’ve got the latest Toyotas in stock. And, with our Sound of Summer Savings Event going on now, you could save big on purchasing a brand-new Toyota.

Get ready for the 2013 Toyota Avalon 2013—Hybrid Model Expected to Get 40 MPG!

Westboro Toyota has got great news! The all-new 2013 Toyota Avalon, which will be available for sale later this year at our Route 9 West showroom in Westboro, gives you the option to choose between a powerful V6 gasoline powertrain and Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive. This is the first full-hybrid being offered in the premium mid-size segment, and the Toyota Avalon’s new hybrid model is expected to deliver excellent fuel economy with an EPA-rating of 40 mpg combined.

To add to the buzz that’s been brewing here at
Westboro Toyota over the 2013 model, the new Avalon features a stunning design and improved dynamic performance. There’s even more refinement for 2013, and we think you’ll especially fall in love with it for its comfort and spaciousness. Plus, it’s equipped with many amenities of convenience you’ve come to crave in your luxury vehicle!

If you’re in the market for a new vehicle that’s great on gas and is environmentally friendly, the 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid may be the car for you!

The Avalon Hybrid features a 2.5-liter, Atkinson-cycle, four-cylinder engine, a 244.8-volt nickel-metal hydride battery pack, and a pair of electric motor/generators within the transaxle. The electric-motor power application and regenerative braking is seamless, thanks to the engine compartment’s power-control unit, which houses an inverter, a DC-DC converter, a step-up converter (raises voltage to a maximum of 650 volts) and the hybrid-drive ECU.

With 200 horsepower, the Avalon Hybrid operates in three modes: EV (operates solely on electric propulsion under certain conditions), ECO (gas motor engaged with reduced throttle response to improve efficiency) and SPORT (alters the throttles response and enhances the feel of the steering). The EV mode can be engaged for up to one mile at speeds up to 25 mph, providing an all-electric option that’s convenient for when you’re driving in residential areas or around parking garages.

Another great thing about the Avalon hybrid is that the battery pack, comprised of 204 cells, is smartly housed behind the rear seats in the trunk so there’s still ample cargo space there.
For those of you seeking a traditional engine, the 2013 Toyota Avalon’s proven 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engine, with a six-speed automatic transmission, delivers responsive and efficient performance, too. How does zero to 60 mph in under seven seconds sound?!

Plus, the new 2013 Toyota Avalon’s powertrain programming has been updated with ECO (prioritizes fuel efficiency by reducing the power application at lower speeds while cutting back on energy consumed by the A/C system), NORMAL, and SPORT (increases the acceleration responses though altered engine control unit (ECU) programming and gives a more direct and responsive steering feel) modes. The result: The 2013 V6 gasoline powertrain model of the Toyota Avalon achieves an EPA-rated 25 mpg combined!
If you have questions about the 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, stop by Westboro Toyota. And don't forget to visit us online oftenwe’ll be sure to update you once we’ve got these beauties in stock for you to test drive!
