Third Generation of World’s First Seven-passenger Gas-Electric Hybrid SUV Debuts at Los Angeles Auto Show

The new Highlander Hybrid is a complete package for environmentally conscious families who want to travel in comfort and style. Its all new polished exterior design brings both refinement and strength, integrating a new interior that will raise the bar in mid-size SUV segment. With three row seating for seven or eight, a bunch of standard features, increased cargo capacity, a multitude of available in-cabin technologies, the new Highlander Hybrid will offer an equalized package of style, comfort and utility. The entire package completed off with Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain system for improved mileage and less emission.

Refined and dynamic, the new Highlander features a continuous silhouette and sculptured side-doors panels. The exterior has grown in length by approximately three inches while width is increased by half an inch, conveying a smooth and strong debut.

The 2014 model will offer a premium interior, highlighted by increased spaciousness for seven or eight people, and numerous standard comfort, accessibility and technology features.
Raising the bar of interior design, Toyota engineers add more refinement and functionality to the new Highlander Hybrid.

The new Highlander’s interior handles premium materials to offer an upscale experience, with most models featuring standard contrast seat fasteners. All Highlanders will come equipped with soft-touch instrument panel, painted in silver and satin, and chrome-plated accents intentionally placed throughout the interior.
Premium fabrics, smooth and perforated leather-trim seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, captain’s chairs and much more, add to Highlander Hybrid’s redesigned upscale interior.

Additional available accessibility features include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Smart Key, Automatic High Beam Headlights, panoramic moonroof and a heated steering wheel.

All Highlander grades feature a 3.5 liter V6 engine and new six-speed electronically-controlled automatic transmission that offers selectable manual sequential shifting. The LE grade is also available in 2.7 liter four cylinder engine, and the Limited grade is available with hybrid powertrain.

All 2014 Highlanders will have eight standard airbags. Like every Toyota, Highlander will feature the standard Star Safety System, which includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, an Anti-lock Braking System, and Smart Stop Technology.

With high performances and refined styling in an all wheel-drive SUV, 2014 will be a great year for Highlander Hybrid.

All Highlanders are assembled at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana (TMMI) in Princeton, Ind., which also export Highlanders to 12 countries around the world.
